Its been two years but there is no improvement in NCR- same weather- Sweat like anything, bad infrastructure, pollution, dust everywhere, trucks, dumpers running all over the city. Going out of home- whether to Delhi or to a nearby market for 15 min- its one and the same thing. Ur shirt will change its color for sure, ur face will full of dirt once u wipe off ur face- Camouflage effect.
One thing that has changed is its diminishing GREEN color.
Where ever u see- its construction- flyovers, buildings, roads- Government (DELHI government only) is doing fabulous job to develop the national capital future's Super Power- India. But the officials are doing this without thinking about the ENVIRONMENT.
If they are developing the infra by cutting trees- Y CANT THEY GROW TREES in the SPARE LAND to COMPENSATE for THE number of trees they have chopped off.
Comparing Delhi with cities like Bangalore or Chandigarh- Delhi is way, way behind these cities- let it be any aspect- infra, roads, cleanliness, GREEN-NESS. (Delhi is just ahead of these cities in terms of the construction work of Metro ONLY)
IS DELHI REALLY WORTH TO BE CALLED THE NATIONAL CAPITAL OF INDIA?
WHERE ARE THE TREES?

I disagree!
Delhi is every bit worth being the national capital.
Development is essential...and it takes some collateral...which can be anything - trees, displacement of people etc...
When you compare infrastructure - what will you say of Bangalore's narrow roads, overflowing sewers & many more...
Delhi has highest vehicle density...more than combined strength of Mumbai, Chennai & Kolkata...It has widest roads in the country.
NCR has apopulation of almost 2 crore, out of which 1.5 cr is based within delhi..B'lore has a population of 70 lakh..
and still, Delhi is one of the greenest cities in the world...check it.the forest cover has only increased in past ten years, despite rapid pace of urbanization!
If you are so moved what are you doing?
the demographic pressure combined with geographic elements put a lot of strain on Delhi's resources...yet no one is thrashing migrants in Delhi...over 50 lakh migrants live in Delhi.
Infrastructure - sample this - Delhi University attracts highest number of students from other parts of country than any other univ in India. It has some of the best educational establishments in India.
Govt has constructed free public urinals on almost all the major roads...again the density of public convinience is highest in Delhi...what are you yapping about man...validate your points before feverishly arguing about Delhi infra. If it was so bad, then how come in last 9 months over 700 companies have shifted their base from Mumbai to Delhi and NCR...
It is easy for anyone to criticize the govt, but what do people like us do...do we play our part?
And I know you will not let this comment to be published on your blog...but tell you what, I have data to prove you wrong on all the aspects...
@Anonymous.. Here is d first point where u r wrong... I have published ur comment. :-)
Firstly, thanks for sharing these important facts.
Secondly, I have already mentioned the FABULOUS work done by Delhi Government, specially CM, in developing Delhi's infra. But the discussion is not about the Population, Vehicle density, Infra, university, public Urinals... it was about the reducing Green color in DELHI region. And I guess, u r just following the internet figures for this.
Check out the reality n den say- it is really reducing.
As we say "Dikhawe pe na jao, apni akal ladao". Open ur eyes, I am just trying to bring the TRUE fact in front- whether its Aravalli Hills or old Delhi, or CP or any major roads- trees r being chopped to bring nice looking buildings or flyovers etc
well that was just meant to get the comment published...anyways thnks...
2ndly it was only you who compared Delhi's infra to that of Bangalore and Chandigarh...so when you talk of Infrastructure, you can't discount several determinants and of course the demographicand geographic constraints among many others that follow.
3rdly, the figures do not get cococted out of thin air. the data is official which even UNO takes into a/c...
4th, 'apni akal' that you are so proud of is affected by 'perceptual aelctivity'...i hope u kno wt does that term mean...an individuals observation is prone to mistakes unlike an authentic organization's.
5th, for every tree chopped a tree has been planted in Delhi...
Do you know that in last ten years 3 species of 'extict'trees and animals have again been sighted in Bhati mines area of Delhi...
The good looking building and flyovers which pinch you so much are requirement of any modern cosmopolitan city...
if trees have been cut many more have been planted too...
And as i said earlier, development requires some collateral...i hope god enables you tounderstand that aspect...
